Having previously been commissioned to create the piece for the original stage production back in 1945, Hand & Lock couldn’t resist the chance to be involved in the production for a second time.
Completed in five weeks, the technique of tambour beading with a variety of beads, paillettes and bugle beads was applied to create a beautiful floral pattern making this garment a show stopper.
The winner of 19 major awards and directed by Stephen Daldry, An Inspector Calls is a play written by English dramatist J. B. Priestley. The play is a three-act drama, which takes place on a single night in April 1912, focusing on the prosperous upper middle-class Birling family who live in the fictional town of Brumley.
The family is visited by a man calling himself Inspector Goole, who questions the family about the suicide of a young working-class woman. The family is interrogated and revealed to have been responsible for the young woman’s exploitation, abandonment and social ruin, effectively leading to her death.
An Inspector Calls will be on stage for a limited season, at the National Theatre from Friday 4th November 2016 – Saturday 4th February 2017.
