In 2018, After completing an MA from the Institutio Marangoni in Milan, Shlomit entered the Hand & Lock Prize for embroidery. Her submission was a lightweight jacket embroidered with recycled computer components. The judges were impressed by the delicacy and subtlety she achieved working with industrial waste. She was rewarded for her efforts with second prize in the textile art open category.
Later, she relocated to London and came to Hand & Lock for a valuable internship. An instantly popular figure in the studio, Shlomit has the perfect easy temperament for embroidery and the upbeat friendliness that is so important at Hand & Lock. Her first major projects included 3D embroidery for Yinka Ilori x Apple, which demonstrated her exceptional beading and goldwork skills.
Shlomit officially joined the embroidery team in July 2021. Her favourite projects are often complex, collaborative embroideries or restorations. She even found a way to embroider a Hermes lipstick case for a client. From high fashion to embroidered shoes and exquisite monograms, Shlomit has a refined eye for the finest details.
