Head of the Prize

Sophie Carr

Sophie born in leafy Buckinghamshire and attended Bucks New University from 2008/2011 winning the H&L Prize for embroidery in her final year. In 2015 she joined H&L coordinating The Prize and overseeing the planning for the 250th anniversary celebrations.

Sophie’s first hand experience of the Prize combined with her skills as an administrator and event planner make her the perfect Prize coordinator. The annual Prizegiving is a massive undertaking that requires constant communication with dozens of different people and organisations.

It takes an organised mind to manage and oversee such a large undertaking and Sophie takes it all in her stride. Her experience entering and winning the Prize in 2011 means she can understand the pressures facing entrants and steer them with empathy and understanding.

With H&L celebrating it’s 250th anniversary in 2017 and events throughout the year all over the world Sophie’s role is more important than ever. If you wish to be involved with the celebrations or host an event she is the best person to speak with.
