The hand embroidered cushion was presented to the Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in a brand new Rolls Royce Dawn.
Hand & Lock specialise in the intricate embroidery techniques required to create a detailed Coat of Arms. The Saxe-Coburg Coat of Arms features a many details familiar to many British people because of the close ties between the British and German royal families. It’s also worth noting that the House of Windsor was founded by King George V by royal proclamation in 1917, when he changed the name of the British Royal Family from the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
Highlights of the embroidery include the black-yellow imperial coloured stripes, the green crancelin (which runs from the upper dexter corner of the shield to the lower sinister) framing the familiar Royal Standard in the centre. All the details have been creating by skilled craftsmen in our central London Atelier using the finest gold bullions, silk shading and meticulous appliqué. We heard from a Rolls Royce representative that ‘The Prince was blown away’ and we couldn’t be happier.
